Independent video game laboratory

Games worth slowing down for.

Snailworks is an independent video game lab exploring strange worlds, playful systems, and new ways to tell interactive stories.

Our Games

Three worlds in progress.

Three worlds currently in development — names, art, and descriptions may change before release. More coming soon.

You play as a wandering shell, ferrying fragments of memory between crumbling biomes. Every zone you enter is quietly reshaped by what you carry. Full mechanic details coming soon as the prototype develops.

  • Single player
  • PC / Console — TBD
  • Timeline: TBA

Rainfall is the puzzle's clock — machines rouse, rust, and rest again on their own rhythm. Full mechanic details coming soon; puzzle structure is still being validated in prototype.

  • Single player
  • PC — TBD
  • Timeline: TBA

Every player controls a tiny, near-mute creature that can only communicate through gesture and vibration. Currently a paper-prototype exploring miscommunication as a mechanic — more coming soon.

  • 2–4 players
  • Platform TBD
  • Timeline: TBA

The Lab

Part studio. Part laboratory.

We prototype unusual mechanics, build expressive worlds, and follow promising ideas wherever they lead. Some become games. Some become tools. Some remain wonderfully strange experiments.

Procedural worlds

Systems that grow terrain, ecosystems, and architecture from a handful of rules.

Unusual controllers

Input experiments beyond stick-and-button — breath, touch, tilt, proximity.

Emergent storytelling

Narrative that assembles itself from small, simulated moments rather than scripts.

Playful AI

Characters and systems that improvise, misbehave, and surprise their own designers.

Audio experiments

Generative sound and music systems that react to what the player is actually doing.

Move thoughtfully.

Experiment constantly.

Ship when it feels alive.
